Apple farming in India is mainly grown in hill stations, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir. India is one of the top 10 apple-producing countries globally. In 2024-25, production is estimated at 2,250 thousand metric tons. Various regions in the country produce different Apple Varieties, such as Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Mclntosh, Chaubattia Anupam, and Lal Ambri.

Red Delicious is a famous and widely cultivated apple variety, growing in the region of Himachal Pradesh. It is red from the outside, with a sweet, juicy and mild taste.

Golden Delicious is mainly grown in Jammu and Kashmir. It has a yellow-green colour from the outside with grows to a large size. This variety of apple requires more care than usual and is used for salads, apple jam, and as a fresh fruit.

The McIntosh apple is also known as a vinous apple due to its taste, which resembles that of wine and is sweet. This apple is cultivated in the states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Chaubattia Anupam is a medium-sized apple that is shiny yellow and red with a sweet and crisp flavour.

The Lal Ambri apple is developed by mixing two varieties of apple, Red Delicious and Ambri. It has smooth skin and a bright, dark red colour. It's creamy, pulpy, and sweet, with a juicy taste.
